Diseases treatable with acupuncture.

List of diseases, symptoms and conditions treatable with acupuncture.
Acupuncture is an ancient therapeutic modality that uses needles, moxas and other instruments to release chemical substances in the body with analgesic and/or anti-inflammatory effects and thus relieve pain and other symptoms resulting from certain diseases.
Acupuncture has been, over the years, an effective therapeutic resource in the treatment of pain. But it’s not just. Through it, it is possible to treat and cure various diseases of the musculoskeletal, respiratory, neurological and digestive systems, in addition to helping in the treatment of obesity, depression and stress and also some dermatological disorders.
Determining what acupuncture can treat based on the rigid scientific methodology that studies the properties of drugs is a frustrating and difficult task. Therefore, based on current scientific data, we offer the following list of conditions that have shown positive results from acupuncture treatment. It is information that can help when deciding and choosing the most appropriate treatment, for the doctor and for the patient.
A list of diseases treatable with acupuncture was developed in June 1979 by representatives from 12 countries who met in Beijing at the WHO (World Health Organization) International Seminar on Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Anesthesia for Acupuncture. This list is based on clinical experience. In this list, conditions, when specifically tested, have shown promising results in published clinical trials.
For better understanding of the readers, some medical terms are accompanied by the most known denominations.
In addition to the indications below, Acupuncture has broad therapeutic action in various diseases and symptoms not included in this list.
Medical evaluation is essential for establishing the correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Often, the use of other therapies is indispensable. Therefore, the role of your acupuncturist is important.
This means that acupuncture is an important therapeutic resource, but it is not a “cure-all”.
When in doubt, always consult your doctor.
